Message The thin butyl mats are great for reducing rattles and things like that, but don't have the thickness to absorb the frequencies of road and exhaust noise.

What you need is some acoustical foam, such as what is used in recording studios. They also make stuff specifically for cars. Here is a link:

Obviously the best way would be to put down a butyl mat (like B-Quiet) first, to reduce any rattle, followed by the above Whisper Mat.
