Message if there are peaks and valleys in the surface of the journal Mike, then that would be the reason I stated to polish. From my back ground in doing what I do, you never want to have peaks in any surface...but to knock them down and maintain their valley "attribute", hence just like honing of cylinder bores. You are actually creating peaks and valleys and each time you go to a finer stone, you break the peaks and maintain the valley attribute to retain oil in the wall for extended lubrication abilities. What i asked wasn't retarded by any means and if it weren't for individuals like myself and some others that ask the informative questions then there would be a lot of speculation on processes and procedures. But its your build and you do what you want. Im not out here to cause controversy. I machine/build what works...i've never personally used WPC in anything I've done so I can't comment on it first hand.
