Message The price the person offered is not too far off from a complete rebuild, machining and assembly with quality parts. If he is indicating $10K, turn key. Its a good price. Too good in my opinion.
Kyle's comparison, doe's not include the actual freight price, core price and final assembly and installation, plus hoses, oil, oil filter, coolant, spark plugs etc. Which will add at least $600 more to the $8400.00 Kyle described.
Not to mention turbos... so that's another $2 to $3K with new water/oil lines. New Harness??

I would not do all that work for $1000.00 dollars. So something does not sound right. If he is going to do that job for that kind of money there's a catch, or he gets a hell of a discount on parts to offset his labor cost. Just my 2 cents...

If the person offering to do this rebuild is a reputable engine builder. I think its low, just make sure he is doing all he says he is doing and make a Work order with everything outlined clearly. Kyle what do you charge to perform a turn key build like the one described. I don't think its $10K.. Good luck.
