Message adjustable gears. Granted they spend more on labor but it's the one step that you can't skip unfortunately, just like mic bearings etc

TDC is simple, roughly turn crank to #1TDC (all timing marks line-up), set wheel to 0, turn crank 20 degree clockwise, install piston stop. Keep turning clockwise until piston touches piston stop again. Find out what degree it is. Ex. @ 30 degree. So (20+30)/2 = 25 = midpoint. Now rotate degree wheel (not the crank) 5 degree counterclock wise (20 + 5 = 25). That's your TDC at 0 degree.
