| the light comes on and the needle is at "E" with at least 5 gallons left I have personally driven over 100 miles with the light on before just to prove it to another local Z owner. Despite all the theories you may see about why this could be, it is really quite simple. People are fucking stupid. Automanufacturers like Nissan know people are fucking stupid and will drive the car til it dies from being driven out of fuel, so they have the indicators come on with PLENTY of reserve. Otherwise people will run out of gas and somehow blame Nissan for building crappy cars and then Nissan gets a bad rep for their cars when it is owner stupidity that creates the problem. All manufacturers do this for the same reason.
