generally speaking, W, Y, or Z rated tires (higher speed ratings) will also be softer compounds and will stick better than the lower speed ratings (T, H, etc) but just because a tire is Z rated does not mean it's super sticky. The lower speed-rated tires are generally made for family sedans and economy cars so there is no need for a soft compound. That's why these tires are harder and don't stick as well. I'm running the Yokohama A032R tires on my Miata when autocrossing. They're only H rated but they're stickier than any street tire I've ever ran on the Z (Yok. AVS Intermediate, Pirelli P7000, Bridgestone Potenza RE71, etc.. all of which are Z rated or higher)
