Message When you have to dump money on the Z because something breaks, that's a real waste. But then again if you bought it new, it would be 30% down in market value 5 minutes after you drive it out the dealership door. So what you are really doing is transferring cost from acquisition cost to maintenance cost. But you really aren't loosing money (technically).

Of course the mental attitude is different. When you buy a car for, say $40k, you plan in advance to dump that dough and once you've done it, you don't want any extra unexpected expense. But it can happen anyway, you know... If you nail a curb and bust a tire or crack a rim for example. It's just a fact of life: you play, you pay.

Now for upgrade costs. I don't understand what the hell are you whining about. If you're spending all that money to make your Z quicker and/or better looking, it's your own choice and you can stop whenever you want. And buy another toy with the money.

Whatever toy you buy is going to cost you to maintain too, you know...

It is all about your attitude. You can buy a Yugo and be a nobody for almost free, or keep your Z and be a shark in the sea of vehicles on the road. If you don't care how much fun it is to drive your car and how many heads you turn, you should have a hoopty piece of shit. If you do care, shut up and take it like a man! j/k
