Message 1. Language certainly adjusts over time. New words are created to
allow for clear and concise conversation. The essential purpose of
language is to convey one's thoughts to others in a manner that allows
for like-mindedness.
But I don't think I need to go into an explanation of why we don't let
toddlers develop new languages. The idea is to improve on the system,
not to produce a purposeless, subversive one.
So, in your saying that language may degrade in one area and be
bolstered in another, you might as well say that it's an acceptable
modification to make the front of your car nice and shiny while rusting
out the back. Text messaging is a time saver; if it causes a person
to lose their faculty of proper speech, it is a degradation of the English
language.

Txt msg'ing can srv a purpose. Stenography has its place, and
pseudo-languages exist. Thing is, both have rules of clarity (and times
where they are not acceptable). If you're going to be lazy and appear
ignorant by shirking EVEN these rules, you're degrading the English
language. And good luck making a career as an esteemed lawyer,
professor, president, etc. George W?

2. "Harassing morons" is not simply social dominance (amusing
evaluation, though). Forcing people to acknowledge their misuse of
readable English due to laziness and incorporating a sense of inadequacy
encourages proper usage. If you get burned, quit putting your hand on
the stove. If, instead, (as you seem to deem fit) you let these gross
written aberrations slide (and don't even try to tell me that these
mistakes are out of ignorance; the majority are laziness), you support
the degradation of clear thought.

If you saw someone putting gasoline in their crank case, I would hope
you'd correct them. How is intelligible, proper speech any different?
Down the road, it's going to cause serious social problems. In fact, it
already has.

As far as your 'socio-economics' bit, you should meet my friends. Poor
people do not have to be lazy idiots. If the education system fails you,
there are public libraries. Sounds like an excuse to me. You probably
support morons like Michael Steele:
