Just a tidbit: anytime a person's language causes a lapse in clarity, it requires revision (since communication is the purpose of language). But this concept of the degradation of language is misconception. Language is fluid and changes over time; if it seems to "erode" in one area (formal, written communication), it may be developing in other areas (short-hand, text-messaging for example). Language usage has more to do with a person's cultural and socio-economic background than anything else. This idea of "harassing morons" is really a way to exert social dominance... it has nothing to do with the English language (and imho, it is far more obnoxious than errant usage). :People. there's a reason the rules exist - we can't understand you if you :don't take the time to think it through and say it properly. If you want to :improve on something, that's one thing; this lack of effort in communication :is simply obnoxious. And for those of you who aren't lazy morons, keep :correcting these people until they learn that acting like an idiot DOES make :people think you're an idiot. :Speak/type clearly, or you're going to be hassled and viewed as :subordinate.
