| But chroming varies per piece and if it copper or nickle coated first. Alot of places do a single chrome coating some do mutliple. The best chroming is usually done by 1. Stripping the piece 2. Polishing 3. Wiring and Racking (this a big step that will insure good chroming usually done half ass by most places) 4. Cleaning 5. Copper Coating and rebuffing 6. Rewire and rerack 7. Nickel Plating 8. Chrome Plating So anyways alot of places just simply polish and dip the item chroming solution. Also the number of coats of copper or nickel will vary the more pitted the material the better it would look if coated again. A good example of a poor chroming job is on my intake plenum that the aluminum has alot of pits and it could have used a few more coats of copper and nickel first before the chrome. But in georgia there is not many quality chroming places.
