| it def won't happen in the next few years...we are too dependent on gasoline i think we are a LONG way away from electric cars being the norm (or alternate forms of energy being the norm)...think about the millions and millions of gasoline powered vehicles on our roads today...think about how many laws would need to be changed to accomodate electric cars as the norm...think about the changes needed in the infrastructure...that would be a MASSIVE change that would take a long time and cost billions and billions of $... think about how the huge oil/energy companies (that practically run the world) and their influence and how they would feel about going electrical; they prob would not be too happy...their influence extends a lot farther than people think and know...if you are really interested in reading more about energy companies and their political influence, pick up an old book called The Seven Sisters...it's about the 7 huge oil companies (at the time) and the oil crisis of the '70s and OPEC, etc...there is another more recent book from the '90s called The Prize, by Daniel Yergen...it's very interesting material
