Message an OEM under engine cover with black bumper coating to increase its
imperviousness to engine fluids. I used Dupli-color FB105 and sprayed a
new cover with an entire can (or heck it might have been two cans). It's
been on my car for about 6 months. I just took it off and it still looks great.

However, my engine doesn't leak and my car rarely sees rain so I really
can't say how much an improvement this is over the uncoated cover. Be
advised that the solvents in this paint have a tendency to loosen the fibers
the stock cover is constructed of. I applied many light coats so this effect
was not a problem but if one were to saturate a cover perhaps it might be.

Chance favors the informed
