Message Please note: pictures are crappy and I'm sorry. All I had was my cellphone with me.

I bought a Mookeeh short shifter off ebay for 19 bucks. I was pretty happy with the difference it made, but it really wasn't much shorter in terms of height than stock. Overall I don't exactly like the short shifter and I plan on replacing it someday when other Z priorities are completed.

I took the short shifters main assembly piece to work and chucked it up in the lathe:

You can see where the channel is that I started cutting. Unfortunately the metal was to hard for my lathe tools so I had to use a bi-metal hack saw while spinning it at about 500rpm. I wanted to spin it while cutting so that the end result would be 90 degrees and sit flush to the other part of the shifter assembly, this would ensure a tighter fit and fight against backing off.

Here's how much I removed from the opposite end:

And here's the final product, ready for re-installation:

All in all I removed just under 1" which doesn't sound like much but it made a noticeable difference. Its still not as short as some others out there, but its about perfect for me. Just wanted to share this in case others wanted their short shifters shorter and didn't know how to go about it.
