I think the issue is that when a car sits for a long time at best the fuel rails don't hold pressure (at worst they go dry). And I think therein lies the issue with injector failure. Plus both times the injectors failed they ran rich (indicating that they didn't so much as fail as they weren't moving properly). It's a damn shame no one had machinery to clean side feed injectors.
