 ruined front bumper, cracked headlight, cracked fog light, cracked sidelights i was inside the house an someone in a tourus decided to completely run into my car. it was an accident yes, but they also ran lol. i watched the whole thing... kinda depressing to see your car almost get totalled. i look at the plate an it said "village motors" an had a temp plate. i got them good though lol. i went to village motors down the street and they looked up the car. im not sure if it was a rental or a newly purchased car. the guy asked me to not call the cops just yet and let him try to contact the guy cause it was a hit an run and i told him i had insurance. so i said ok and waited about an hour an called the cops to report it and he beeped in so i hung up on the cops. i picked up his call and he told me "i got in touch with the man who owns the car."
i told him "well i spoke to my mom cause its her insurance and she told me to report it now"
he said "well the guy says hes not sure if he did or did not hit the car (lol) but hes willing to pay for the damages if you don't involve the cops for the hit an run. come to the dealership on friday and drop the car off an i will give you a rental"
i replied with "so everything will be fixed on the car?"
he said "drop the car off friday and the insurance will cover the damages for you"
please some advice... sounds like the car was a rental and the dealership is liable for the damages but doesnt want me to make a report so the driver doesnt get arrested. they are giving me a rental for free and suposidly paying for damages.
or... the guy just bought the car from him and hes doing me a favor by tracking him down and is going to have the kids insurance pay for damages and pay dealership for labor. ?????? car had a temp plate not a dealer plate. i couldnt get the full info on the car or anything. i didnt make a report or tell my insurance yet cause im not sure if the tourus's insurance company is paying by giving a check or the dealership is covering the damage cause it was a rental with insurance.
