| material. I can't remember where I sourced it, but it is similar to the layer used under carpets on a lot of vehicles... only thicker. The stuff I used is a recycled material consisting of chopped up pieces that have been mixed with an adhesive and compressed back together in a thick sheet. You don't need anything hi-tech here. Almost any high density foam, e.g. not 'sponge rubber'; would work to deaden the sound. It's only function is to muffle and absorb the gear whine and road noise coming up through the trans tunnel... especially through the shifter opening. gordo
