| Often over the years I have been able to rely on TTNet and the many friends I have made here over the years to help diagnose and repair my Z. This past week I have yet again been reminded of what a valuable and informative community we have. Long story short after bringing the Z back from a weekend get-away trip to Charleston, SC I started to have some issues with it, stumbling running very rough and very rich. Did all the usual inspections, cleaned connectors, sensors etc... Ran the ECU diags, all the good things I've learned over the years from this community and developed a working idea what all was wrong with the car. Short on time and busy with work I opted to drop it off at a mechanic I trust and had the leaking FPR replaced along with a failing ignition coil pack. Everything was good, car ran correctly... The next day Laura and I take the Z up to "The Grove" for some holiday shopping, dinner and a little Quantum of Solace goodness. Leave the theater amidst some unseasonably cool weather for Tampa and the car wont start... Check all the usuals, starter is good, fuel pump primes, its got spark and its got fuel....mind boggling. Begrudgingly its AAA time and towed it back to the shop...1 day out of being there. Get a call from the shop owner Monday morning....can't find a damn thing wrong with it and it fires right up. Very aggravating. Take it home, leave it in the garage for a few days and then take it out, runs fine. Park it at a Target one evening, come out and it does not want to start but finally does. And so the pattern goes for several more days, compounded by an increasingly more erratic idle and at times nearly stalling under acceleration or start up. ECU throws no codes... Finally thank goodness for the search feature on this site, something clicked...the electric fan is on 99% of the time since these issues started and that doesn't make sense. Problem solved, its a $25 fix for a new coolant temp sensor. Search even showed me that I needed a 19mm deep socket. So even after 10 years this forum is as helpful and insightful as it was for me when I first bought the car. Thanks!
