BOVs can be plumbed in to recirculate, a la the HKS SSQV with recirc adapters. On stock turbos, I imagine the stock recircs will vent enough pressure to prevent compressor surge when the throttle closes but you're going to reach a point that a higher volume of gas needs to be vented to ensure this doesn't happen. Aftermarket valves make this possible.
