| the 2.5M number was based on "analysts estimates" based on the number of directly employed by GM and the impact to their vast supplier network. The keyword here is "estimate". I don't think anyone knows the true impact, not even GM. FWIW, I've seen estimates as high as 4.9M, but again it's just an estimate. I also understand that many analysts are trying to paint as shitty a picture as possible in order to bolster the argument for a bailout. Bottom line is I don't want to find out the exact true number, because by then we're in really bad shape. No one will know the true number until it happens.
