I was driving my '93TT to work this morning in heavy traffic with the tunes blaring doing about 35-40 mph in 4th. I feel a strage vibration and I look at the tach and I'm running 6500rpms!! I don't think I even had my foot on the gas! I punch the throttle a couple of times but the engine remains to spin in the 6500-7000 range. The car really isn't accelerating, I assume the clutch was slipping although I've never noticed any clutch problems before. I quickly spot a side road and cut the car off and pull off the main road into a neighborhood. After a minute or so, I start it back up and everything is hunky dory... I continue my drive to work (carefully) and don't notice anything wrong (smoke, noises). I do notice I'm now in safety boost (d@mn!). Any ideas WTF is going on? It just so happens I've got a Nissan consult scheduled this afternoon (I reset the ECU last night) so I'm sure I'll get all kinds of codes :-(
I'm also hoping once I start the car to leave at lunch, I'll be out of safety boost.
