Nearly all turns in an aircraft are positive g through the "floor", so the engine would not see lateral g, unless the pilot were flying uncoordinated turns. If he were doing acro, then zero to negative g could be encountered, as well as some lateral forces. I can only imagine this would be bad for the VG engine.
