This isn't as much of an issue for cloth but leather really benefits from preforming via a heat gun. If you just attempt to stretch material onto a complex surface you're sure to 'pre-stress' that material. Heating and cooling cycles will tend to increase stresses placed on the adhesive...this results in the material pulling away from the surface. If you relieve this stress with a heat gun, this stress will be greatly reduced.
In the end nothings perfect. Our factory assembled dash and subsequent dash peel. However, I think the heat gun is a great start.
