Message The risk taken by every product developer is that their research and hard work might be copied and someone else might profit from said copies. If they're so paranoid that may happen then they shouldn't even be in the game.

The originator of a product has many advantages over would-be copiers that will allow them to remain competitive within their market. One advantage is to not set their price so high as to gouge customers and encourage cheap copies. If there isn't a large profit margin to be made, the "get-rich-quick idea stealers" won't be interested, it just isn't worth it to them.

I can tell you that no one is going to get rich by developing new products for the Z32, the potential sales quantities that make it worth investing in large production runs are simply not out there with this car. So short runs are the rule, which costs more per part, and you can only add a small bit of profit to this cost before no one will buy it.

If all I were interested in was money, I'd be selling parts for cookie-cutter type vehicles like the 350Z or Honda. For me it's all about my passion for the Z32, and if I can cover my costs and make a bit of profit, then I'll keep doing it.
