The Miata is cheap, common, light and handles well making it a great track car. I never said the MR2 was popular, but just because a car isn't popular doesn't mean it isn't a good track car. The MR2 is a pretty rare car, which has a lot more to do with why you don't see it at track events as much as a Miata, e30, etc for example. You used popularity to cite why it isn't a good track car, nothing else. I say that is flawed logic. At least drive one on track before dismissing it. Hell, I rarely see Ferrari's on track....does that mean they aren't good track cars? The Z32 isn't a popular track car mainly due to weight, but all in all it actually does pretty well on the track. It would be outclassed were one to actually try to race it (as most turbo cars are in SCCA/NASA) but for a weekend track car it's not a bad platform. The original poster didn't specify what he'd be using this track car for.
