Message can be used to describe anything that does work...

i.e.

starcraft and warcraft are run on the same computer software game engine...

where as, "motor" is almost always used to describe "an internal combustion engine", or "an electirc motor"

i guess its just terminology in the end..

like a rectangle is always a quadralateral, but a quadralateral is not always a rectangle...
motor is always some form of engine, but an engine is not always some form of motor..
