| I ordered a Transmission from this company through eBay. The listing reported a TT 5 Speed Transmission with 28k miles on it. The transmission was shipped and I recieved it and installed it. On installation, starter would not engage. I had a feeling that I had received a NA transmission so I shimmed the starter out with some washers, and yup, it was an NA. Called the company 4 days ago and finally received a call back today 10 minutes ago. The sales representative knew it was an NA transmission. He tried to offer me a full refund, but my Z is my DD and it was already installed, there was no way I was going to uninstall it, wait for a new one, and then install that one too. I think we who do work on our own car know how much a pain in the ass that would have been. Not to mention having to buy a new pilot bushing and such. All I asked him for was the money to buy a starter shim from a respectable Z company. He then replied by asking that I wanted them to give me money for using washers. Was it really so horrible of me to want my starter seated properly on a transmission where if they had sent an actual TT transmission, I would not have that problem. Sure, washers work, but how many of you would feel better about using a full shim and not having your starter resting on 2 washers. He then insisted that two washers would work fine and that he has used that procedure on 12 of his Zs. I figure if you own 12 Zs you should be on TT.net, so I would like to know if anyone of you guys works for MotorTime. lol. Needless to say, I just sent a request for the money needed to buy a starter shim plate, but this should not have been needed in the first place. If you list a product by what it is not, regardless if the "internals are the same", thats not good business. I would not buy from them again unless they informed me ahead of time what I was buying correctly. But, I do have to say, the transmission shifts effortlessly and no grinding like my old one. Just had to inform the public. Take care.
