Message Finally got my hands on a set of his cast aluminum intake turbo intake pipes. I was going to get a set a few years ago before zcon in Dallas, but I was more concerned with getting my Z up and running so I passed. I pulled my engine over the summer for some other issues I took care of (I'll have a seperate post on that at another time). Figured while the engine was out I would try to get a set of the pipes again. Only stipulation Mike had was "don't let anyone copy them" :).

Very nice product. Mike took the time to hone the insides out and oval the mounting points. Being my PE1420 turbos use clocking flanges he wasn't sure where the final resting spot would be so he wanted to give me some fudge room.

Stock vs MSP pipes

Drivers side. Had to hammer in the manifold heat shield a little to get the clearnace to fit. I also had to use a shorter motor mount nut as it wanted to hit that. These issues appear to be caused by my turbos. The 1/4" clocking adaptor flange changed the resting postion of the pipes just enough to cause a few issues. Easily fixed.

On the passenger side I just had to hammer the heat shield a little and they fit right up.

Once I drop the engine back in I need to fab up a replacement pipe for the stock accordian pipe. So far I think most people with these pipes have just adapted the stock pipe to work. Unfortunately the stock pipe is the biggest part of the restriction. It's actually smaller than 2.5" on the inside if you cut one open. I don't see much of a point putting Mike's pipes in and then using the stock accordian pipe. Mike's plan is to have a mandrel bent replacement pipe made and sell everything as a kit. He just hasen't had the time so I'm on my own. I have a box of aluminum pipes with different bends laying around. Gonna try to cut and chop and piece together a layout that will work. Then I'll have it welded together into a single replacement pipe. Let the fun begin.
