Message The core charges for anything automotive is not just an incentive to return your old part. Any time any core charge is made, it is understood your old part will be sent in for a rebuild and it will be resold. This is true for anyone who charges a core, Z1 and anybody else included.

Usually, core charges are refunded all or nothing. Can the part rebuilt? Yes or no. In some cases, if certain subparts can be salvaged, they will refund a portion of the core charge. But one thing they don't do is pay you for materials recycling.

For your example of the battery, they are reconditioned -- the terminals are repolished or replaced if it is too worn, the acid is replenished, the battery is recharged, and it is resold. Same thing with brake calipers, alternators, starters, brake shoes, etc, etc. The list goes on.
