Message	well, the way I polish metals may be different than others. But usually cast aluminum I take the roughness off with 120 grid, it also depends on the roughness of the initial finish, then work my way up from there 180, 220, 320, 400, 600, then compounds. And depending on the exposure I may jump to 1000 before compounds. Now for corners, and areas that are hard to get I use steel wool, HD has 3 types corse, medium and fine, the fine is the equivalent to 1000 grid sand paper.
