| First off if you're looking for a daily driver why are you looking at a used car? The way I see it is that a daily driver should have the following attributes: 1) Reliability 2) Practicality Now if this was going to be your only car then I'd chime in and say sure buy a sports coupe so you can have some fun with it. But you already have 2 'sports cars.' I'd say get a new Mercedes C300. For the following reasons. 1) Reliability: Mercedes Benz sells you their reputation not just a car. So on the days it needs service most dealerships will just give you a loaner. Also a new car is under warranty so if anything breaks they fix it. 2) Practicality: A daily driver with 4 doors is a good idea. It isn't awesome on fuel economy but it isn't horrible for a non-econobox (18/25 mpg). It isn't incredibly expensive (you can pick up a new one for under $40k, under $35k if you don't need the NAV system and bells and whistles), and it will retain a great deal of it's value. However, if gas mileage is your biggest concern then pick up a small car that will get +40mpg. Getting a 3 series BMW is bad idea because you don't need a sports coupe, you need a daily driver.
