Message Although automotive struts are coilovers, not all coilovers are struts. "Coilover" refers to the fact that the spring and damper are assembled as a unit.

A "strut" acts as a structural component providing strength, and in the case of an automotive strut, also supports the spring and damper and positions the wheel. Strut suspensions do not have upper control arms, which is also why their upper mounts are the camber adjustment point.

The Z32 uses upper and lower control arms to provide structural support and spring/dampers for suspension control, which BTW is also why "adjustable pillow ball mounts" don't apply. In our case, the purpose of coilovers is to provide ride height and preload adjustability, as well as +10 bragging points (+20 if SPL).
