It's been said that it's not a good idea to switch from conventional oil to a synthetic oil in a higher mileage vehicle due to leak issues. When I bought my Z, it had 76k miles on it, and although I wanted to run synthetic oil, I knew that conventional oil had been ran in the car previously. I didn't want to risk swapping over and causing the car to leak oil. However, I did the 120k service a few months ago, and have been considering running Mobil-1 fully synthetic in it. The car has 104k now, and I changed all the cam seals and the front crank seal. That leaves only the rear main seal, right? Do you think it would be a risk to switch to synthetic because the rear main has never been changed, and therefore could start leaking? Just wondering what everyone's thoughts on this would be. Thanks.
