Message urself pulling over drunk drivers and pummeling their sorry asses.

: Ya know, I had the exact same Firebird growing up that was used for Knight Rider (the original)...black and all with a V6 automatic (they used 5 speeds for the burnout shots). Anyway, it's ironic that well after selling the car I'm becoming Michael Knight. I swear to god I'm going to start calling my car Kitt. All I need is a watch to talk into...

: Anyhow, I installed the mini camera today. I had talked about doing this in the past, but didn't have the time. I found a local spy store that was willing to sell me demo product at a cut rate deal (that way I could justify the better model ;). I ended up with a color, bullet style, weatherproof 3.3mm wide angle lensed camera. It has day/low light/night capabilities (pitch dark requires the LED add-on for 15' of infrared sight that it will pick up). Honestly, the HIDs throw down enough light so I'll leave it like this for now. I drove around for a while and it started to get pretty dark and this thing worked great! And in the day, wow. Awesome resolution and auto-adjusting.

: Why? Because I can, punk! Really though, I wanted to rush on this because of the LA Sports Car Run in July (check events SoCal peeps) so I could record the action. Sure, a video cam mounted is nice, but this is right at the road and I can just slap the VCR into the car with some tapes and record forever =) Not to mention I wont be hitting any parking stumps anymore.

: Before you ask, the camera was $100 but normally retails for around $190 in this package. You can get black and
: white and a multitude of other things for much less online.

: Here are some pics of the install. It looks a little "rigged" but it's sturdy as a rock. I used bolts with nuts on the other end to secure it down and a thin bead of silicone on each of the treated brass brackets to further insure no movement. Man that urethane was easy to drill into...I'm glad it wasn't fiberglass! It's totally not visible from standing height and from a distance it's barely noticable.

: Mounted in the upper right portion of the GTZ-R.

:

: The lines you see are only there because of the digicam picking them up. Not seen by the eye :)

:

: And of course, a video of it. This is from my digicam recording the screen...so the quality is MUCH higher normally. I just didn't feel like hooking up the VCR and vidcapping tonight.

: Flyin low
