Message I'm going to a tire shop Tues. am to start my trials. I'm pretty sure that I'll go with 255/35 in the front. But, my big idea is to try 285/30 in the back :)

Here is my email to Eddie with some crazy (or I hope not so!) ideas:

Eddie, using the info from this post ([ http://twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=general&msg_id=1532413&forum=general&dtSearch=1 ]),
it appears I can put 255/35 in the front and 285/30 in the back.

The overall diameter of the stock front: 631.4 mm (16" * 25.4 + 225 * 0.5 * 2 ). 255/35-18 diameter is 635.7 mm. I'm pretty sure that 4.3 mm will be fine to clear along the fender. I'm less certain about that twisty vertical suspension element inside the wheel well, but I poked in there and there seems to be about half an inch of space.

For the back overall diameters - stock: 626.9mm. 285/30-18 is 628.2mm. 1.3 mm seems insignificant.

The offset-related dimensions:

front (8.5 at +25) moves out to 87 mm vs 50 stock. So, that's about 1.5" to the outside of the stock. But, on the inside it allows for better clearing of the twisty suspension support element: 140.5 mm for stock vs. 128.9 for the new wheel.

I think 1.5" to the outside should look nice, as the stock really looks under-filled.

For the rear: moves out to 90.6 vs 72.95 stock. 18mm (0.7") should be accommodated without problems.
On the inside, 151.3 mm new vs 143 mm stock. The new wheel protrudes 8mm more on the inside. Don't know if this is going to be a problem.

Cheers and thanks,
Alex
