| Tape doesn't have to be in direct sunlight to get majorly melted and gooey (electrical tape specifically and also duct tape). The heat inside the car if sitting outside in summer will easily do that. Trust me...I know from a mistake I made about 4 years ago. And what are you talking about silicone goo everywhere? That's why I use it specifically...because it is easily removed from the controller with very little time later on if you want to remove it, and holds it much better than tape when it's on. Hopefully the double sided tape is good enough, cause the elctrical tape will turn to goo in the heat. I wish you the best. Just trying to be helpful...no reason to get upset.
