| I have read numerous times in magazines, the internet, and books that when you have high hp cars and get into the high rpms you will cause your timing belt to flex some. Different cars with different power levels obviously flex at different rates. The obvious fix for this is a timing belt tentioner like we have on our cars stock. My question mainly is, do you think that is enough? Sure it works for stock power levels, but what about 500+rwhp levels when you floor it and go all the way to redline? Do you think the timing belt does flex some and change timing several degrees or will the tentioner be able to compensate for that even at higher that stock levels of power and higher than stock redlines? I'm not sure if anyone actually has a clear answer, but it's something that I actually just thought about yesturday which is why I went ahead and ordered a PE Kevlar Timing Belt from Kyle (Part got here today...Kyle, you rock!) I figured it wouldn't hurt, and you can see the kevlar band in the belt and it is stiffer than stock for sure and if I'm not mistaken...kevlar does NOT flex like rubber does right? Could this belt be a possible fix for slight timing changes at high power/rpm levels? I don' tknow...that's why I'm posting =) Anyways, if anyone out there knows if at certain power levels a stiffer stronger belt bcomes necessary, post away...I'd be interested in hearing comments, especially if tests have been done onthe subject, and I have just missed them.
