Message	Anodize or powder coat, constant exposure to road grit would eventually penetrate the coating and the aluminum would rot. Stainless will hold up for the long haul. It will also be more resistant to denting than a similar thickness of aluminum. I think the part is roughly 2 times as heavy as the plastic part it replaces but it still is very light.
