Message	there was no such magical metal strap nut rig to begin with. I bent up a coat hanger around the nut and clamped it with a vice. It held on tight enough to fish it into the fender recess, get it into position, and screw the bolt in a few threads. Anyway, point is, I'm sure you can righ up something to achieve the same goal.
