I'm still skeptical regarding claims that an engine build results in a more reliable engine. Most builds involve a used block, heads and machining of surfaces. I'd rather start with a brand new cast block and heads than one that's been heat cycled for over a decade. Not to say that an upper limit does not exist for the stock block. I think that most stock blocks that end up breaking are due to poor tuning, poor maintenance, and circumstance rather than 'having found the limits of the stock block.' Just my opinion.
