Well part of the problem is definitely the two different struts. If you want to try something different, The KYB AGX is a good strut and I definitley like them over the Tokico illumina. But if you really want an actually coilover system, I'd look a 2 entry level coilovers in The Tein Super Street and the Powertrix Street Sport coilovers. The only thing I do not like about both set ups is that they both require the use of the stock upper mounting hardware instead of a solid pillow ball upper mount but that may be ok for what you want if you don't want the ride to bee too stiff. I'd have to give the advantage to the Powertrix set up based on the feature that the spring pre load adjustment is separate from the ride height adjustment where as on the Tein set up, you can only adjust the ride height by raising and lowering the spring.
