| is at its max rpm in its final gear, so if you raise that rpm the car will go fast because it can rev further. I think your thinking of drag limited which is way different. Think of it this way: let’s say you’re on the freeway in fifth gear and your rpm limit is 6000 and you’re doing 150mph, raise that rpm to lets say 7000; your car will know do 180mph at 7000rpm.
