Message I don't think a "Smoke" machine (called a hazer in the higher end markets) is a good idea, same with the fog machine. However there are dry ice fog machines that should not leave anything behind that the others would. Read through these web sites and find the MSDS reports and see what you would be putting in your intake:

It can be rented for a couple hundred dollars on a weekly basis. Some rental houses might let you use it for an hour. Cash under the table will or beer will help negotiate with the warehouse workers.
