I removed mine by giving it a good quick hard tug, it's held in with a retainer spring (the entire assembly pops off, pull from the "neck" of the mirror). Getting it back on is another matter , a bit trickier and I haven't put mine back on yet. It obstructs my forward view so I removed it at the last track event I attended. I have been considering mounting a "generic" one to the windshield down low sort of like a vintage Austin Healy or something. For now I'm just check my side mirrors.
