Message Or Hi.

Firstly, I highly recommend researching at GarageJournal.com They have an entire section for garage flooring. GREAT resource.

Things I learned;
1. the two part epoxy products are *very very* dangerous. There have been many documented incidents of homes exploding from the toxic combustable fumes. I think we got lucky. Our house was full of the most toxic fumes you could ever imagine, but someone after 3 or 4 days, it went away. I opted to not leave the garage doors open for fear of bugs, dirt and leaves getting on my nice new floor... I'm serious the fumes are HELL.

2. prep is the key, everyone says that. I say it too, but take it one step further. I ended up having to acid wash three times. And nothing anyone told me worked well. Mix 1 gallon Acid to 1 Gallon water into a bucket, then spread the mixture out with the bucket... you get more even coverage. Oh, you'll need a respirator, cause the fumes are caustic as well, but not for as long as the epoxy paint stuff. RENT a powerful power washer. Once the acid is done, you need to power wash off the debris... this is a critical step that can ruin a floor.

3. painting, be prepared to be out of your garage for 2 or 3 weeks. It took me over a month. You need to acid wash the floor and power wash it, then let it dry for at least 3 or 4 days, ventilated. Then, once you paint, you have to let that sit for at least 2 weeks before every considering putting a car on it. I was able to walk on mine in two days. Also, when painting, I tried a few different ways of painting... I recommend a large bucket, that you can dip the roller into... I tried pouring it out, but that was wasteful. Go on as thick as you can... Mine ended up too thin, so I had to buy another couple gallons and do a second coat. Awesome, more downtime.

In the end, I like it. I dont love it. But I like it. It looks fantastic, and it serves a valuable purpose, but it's really sad when you get your first permanent mark on it (i was cutting up cardboard boxes on it, and have a few cuts in the paint).

I went with Gritless-Sherwin Williams Tile Clad II epoxy. I like this epoxy, because you can choose *ANY* color that sherwin williams has, like from the wall of color swatches. I chose some silly light tan thing... like Desert Linin Sunset or something... ghey.

Heres...
