so sitting at a stop light at night, in the heat of summer, with the stereo blasting and the electric fan running, it will still put a strain on the alternator. If it comes down to picking, my electric fan will be the first to face the chopping block if my system still has trouble keeping up. Also, if anyone runs an alternator with the voltage regulator going out the door (which is common on our cars because of the ps leaks), they can partially fry the factory wiring, which then won't carry the load a 6ga. wire normally could, which means the 4ga. direct line would be more benificial to the batter "seeing" the true potential of that 90a alternator.
