Message The "big 3" is usually an upgrade reserved for cars running stereos, but the benefit is there for us with the amount of aftermarket monitoring devices and controllers many of us use, plus the stereo's some of us run in addition to that.

I know there are many people on here who are running grounding kits on their cars. I was previously running just this setup and it made a difference on my car immediately. I have now gone a few steps further and thought I would share.

First, behind the battery, the negative side grounds to the body before going to the starter to ground, remove the 12mm bolt and sand down the paint that in insulating that grounding point (put di-electric grease before bolting everything back in to prevent rusting).

Second, get som 4 ga. wire (about 3.5-4ft.) and run a line straight from your alternator positive post to your battery. You can run 0/1 ga. but I found it too big to route very well. I also put a fuse in line for 150A to keep my car from burning down.

With these two things done in addition to the grounding kit, your car should feel brand new. My car used to take a few seconds of cranking for the starter to catch, now it fires up quicker than my wifes '03 Altima. Optionally, I will be upgrading my car from 8ga. to 4ga. for the grounding kit, and running my transmission ground strap up to 4ga. as well since I have some material left over.

If there is interest, I will get a list together of where I ordered my material, how I routed the alternator to battery connection and snap some photos for a writeup and faq. If you already have aftermarket terminals or have a battery that has both top and side mount posts (run your new connections to these points), you can get everything for around $30.00 for some true 4ga. cable.
