Message are aluminized steel.

There is only minor surface rust, mostly on the welds on mine after maybe 120,000 miles and 9+ years of use.

I don't think the internal perforated tubes are SS, but they have held up well.

The sound of the exhaust changes quite a bit as it warms up.

About 2,000 rpms and dipping into the throttle from a higher gear is the sweet spot. Say doing 2,000 rpm in 4th and then easing into the gas, or having the engine under load at 2K going up a slight hill. Beautiful smooth resonant tone to the exhaust note. Once you get up to 2.5K or so the sound really drops off, and at highway speed it is great, no drone to speak of at all. It has a really mean scream to it when you wind it out at WOT; it will attract attention when driven hard. But, it is quiet enough when driven normally that you will stay out of trouble.
