| I recently had my transmission upgraded with the following parts: - Specialty-Z flex plate - Precision Industries 9.5" torque converter, 3500 - 3800 rpm stall - IPT Performance Transmission Rebuild Kit - IPT Hardened Band Apply Strut - IPT Modified Solenoid Assembly - TransGo Performance Reprogramming Kit (RE4R01A-HD2) - Nismo Pilot Bushing - Needle Bearing - Nismo 300ZX Transmission Mount Special credit goes to Sebastian from Specialty Z. While the tranny was in the shop I got a phone call from the mechanic who told me that the TC, that I had ordered from another company, was not the correct one. My Z is my daily driver so I needed it back as soon as possible. I called Specialty-Z, got Sebastian on the line, and explained the situation to him. Sebastian went the extra mile to get me a proper converter and also advised me to install a 3500 - 3800 stall unit rather than a 3000 stall. I had the converter on my doorstep within 3 working days and I live in the Netherlands.
Since the tranny was out I had some oil leaks repaired and a set of downpipes installed, including a new set of oxygen sensors. The engine now purs steadily below 1,000 rpm. Huge difference compared to the unsteady idle that I had before. There is some room for improvement but we are on the right track. My Z feels completely different now and sure is a hell of a lot of fun to drive. Sebastian was right about the TC. There is still a lot to be done but I feel that it is important build a solid foundation before thinking about mega performance upgrades. Not in the least because the car is 15 years old.
