Message	in a sea of others. I figured out my issue, and of course, being the Grammar Nazi I am, it's all in the wording: I would be completely fine if you wrote, "To some, it's just a car." That is so much more of a true statement than generally stating in an enthusiasts' forum, "It's just a car." I guess what you wrote feels to me like you're trying to impose it on everyone. Got me? And I don't mind the opposite, either - "blatant automotive worship", as you put it, so long as the worshiper keeps it trained on him/herself. If someone's going to be a crazy religious fanatic, more power to him for finding a Reason that makes sense to him, but don't try to convert ME! I love to see people be passionate about something, whatever it is, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone. I think you and I are really taking issue with the same thing but from different sides; fanaticism that tries to force itself on others. The way you wrote what you wrote just felt like you were saying it should be that way for everyone. You don't have to live in a bubble just because someone else caught the flu.
