How about this... use a peice of oak veneer and contact cement it to a piece of plastic and then router/cut out the holes for the gauges?
if you used a black color plastic it should look perfect all you would see is the edge of the black plastic around the holes then you could stain the oak to match. it might be tricky cutting the holes the thin veneer might chip/crack easily. but if you took your time you should have no problems. You might be able to glue it right over the stock plastic piece then cut it out. I didnt loook at it closely but this might point you into a better direction
